Pittsburgh Crochet Throw Blanket
To celebrate fall this year, I crocheted up this simple Pittsburgh Steelers Crochet blanket to keep us warm while we all pile up on the couch together to watch the Black and Gold!
It’s almost that time of year again, full of football, leaf piles, and everything pumpkin. So, the inspiration for this easy crochet blanket came at the perfect time!

Great Throw Blanket for Beginners!
If you are a beginner looking for a quick blanket project, then this is the crochet pattern for you! It works up so quickly because of the basic stitches it uses.
The Pittsburgh throw blanket crochet pattern is easy to make and uses only the half double crochet stitch, which will make for a fast project!

The Yarn That’s Perfect for this Pittsburgh Blanket
I used Charisma yarn from Michaels craft stores for this chunky throw blanket, but any bulky 5 yarn would work!
I used the yarn colors White, Yellow, Grey & Black for this blanket, but any color from the Charisma line would look perfect in this crochet blanket design.
Charisma
This yarn is made by Loops and Threads, and is a Weight 5 – Bulky yarn.
Fiber: 100% Acrylic
Yardage: 109 yd. / 100 m
Hook: 8 mm (L-11)
Substitute: Bernat Softee Chunky

Pittsburgh Crochet Blanket Pattern
Skill Level: Basic
Materials
- Size N 9 mm crochet hook
- 2 skeins each of Charisma bulky (5) Yarn in White (A), Yellow (B), Grey (C), Black (D).
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle
Notes
- This chunky throw blanket pattern is written in standard US terms
- I will refer to the Colors as White (A), Yellow (B), etc.

Finished Size
- Approximately 50” X 35”
- To adjust the size of the blanket chain, any # starting chain to begin and follow the pattern as written. (yarn needed will vary)
Pittsburgh Steelers Crochet Blanket Pattern
Foundation Row: Chain 82 with Color A
Row 1: In 2nd chain from hook Half Double Crochet, Half Double Crochet in each chain across row, turn.
Row 2: Chain 2, In first stitch Half Double Crochet, Half Double Crochet in every stitch across. Turn.
Row 3-13: Repeat Row 2.
Row 14: Change Yarn to Color B. Repeat Row 2
Row 15-27: Repeat Row 2.
Row 28: Change Yarn to Color C. Repeat Row 2.
Row 29-41: Repeat Row 2.
Row 42: Change Yarn to Color D. Repeat Row 2.
Row 43-55: Repeat Row 2.
Finishing: Fasten off after the last row and weave in loose ends throughout the blanket with a yarn needle.

Is the chain 2 count as an half double crochet in the pattern?
