The Yarn

For this blanket, I used a worsted weight yarn from a local craft store, but I would recommend using Vanna’s Choice by Lion Brand to achieve the same results as shown.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Materials

  • Size H crochet hook 5 mm
  • 5 Different Color Balls of Worsted Weight Yarn, 270 yards approximately each (Medium 4) I Used Loops & Threads ® Impeccable™ Yarn in (A) Cherry (two balls), (B) Soft Rose, (C) Black, (D) True Grey.
  • I highly recommend Vanna’s Choice by Lion Brand as a good substitute.
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors

To start: Ch 121 Using Color A

Row 1:  Starting in 5th Ch from hook * work [2 Dc, Ch 2, 2 Dc] in same St. (shell), Sk 2 Ch, 1 Dc in next Ch, Sk 2 Ch, rep from * across, end with Sk 2 Ch, 1 Dc in last Chain (20 Shells) Turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, *work [2 Dc, Ch 2, 2 Dc] (shell) in next Ch 2 space from previous row, 1FpDc around next Dc (from previous row), (you now should have one Dc left untouched from the previous row, leave it be) rep from * across, end with 1 Dc in top of the Ch 3 of previous row.

Row 3:  Ch 3, * work [2 Dc, Ch 2, 2 Dc] in next Ch 2 space, 1 BpDc around next Dc (from previous row), (you now should have one Dc left untouched from the previous row) rep from * across, end with 1 Dc in top of the Ch 3 of previous row.

Row 4: Repeat Row 2

Row 5: Repeat Row 3, now switch yarn to Color B, You can use my tutorial on how to change colors if needed.
