The simple granny scarf is a fun modern take on a classic! If you love making granny squares, granny blankets or anything granny then you will love the simple granny scarf!
I was so excited when I was asked to join along with some other great crochet designers on the Great Granny Blog Hop of 2017! You can find links to all their patterns at the bottom of this post after you are done looking over the simple granny scarf pattern! (GIVEAWAY CLOSED!) Also, don’t forget to enter to win all SIX granny patterns and yarn needed from Lion Brand Yarn below! 🙂 (This giveaway is open to those in USA OR CANADA only and ends Friday at 11.59 pm EST)
I designed the simple granny scarf in color blocks of color because I love the color blocked look! If the combination of colors are to much then I would suggest you crochet this in just one color for a classic simple look! For this pattern I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice because I love how well it lasts with all the wear that scarves can get! You will thank me later! 🙂 If you live on the wild side and would like your simple granny scarf to be a little less simple I have included instructions below on how to spice it up! AKA adding some fringe! I know fringe isn’t for everyone so that’s why this is an optional addition to your granny scarf! 🙂

I added 8 fringe pieces (3 pieces of cut yarn each in Linen) evenly across the bottom of each end of the scarf with a crochet hook and should look something like pictured below.
Again, please feel free to use the tutorial linked to above on how to add fringe if help is needed! If you are not a fringe type of person then go ahead and skip this part and wear the scarf as color blocked grannies!
