The Yarn That’s Perfect for This Doily

For this entire doily, you will need to use approximately 180 yards of cotton worsted weight yarn. I went with the Yarnspirations brand, Lily Sugar’n Cream in Soft Ecru.

It is a soft yarn that works up beautifully and is washable! Which is always a must for this momma!

This Doily Looks Great in The Home!

As well as being an easy crochet project, it makes a fantastic statement piece for your home.

It would look great in the center of a coffee table or even on top of an entry table!

  1. Hello I wanted to let you know that I’m so confused about how I’m going to get started on this doily. If you are to make a circle how many chains do I need to have?

    1. Hi Sally,

Round one starts with 4 chains. Once you chain 4 you will work 15 double crochets into that fourth chain, finishing with a slip stitch to create a circle.

  2. It says there’s a video but there’s no video??? It’s just a link to Instagram and there’s no video for this there either (cute doggos btw)

    1. Hi AJ,

At the end of the written pattern, there is a video pattern as well. If you have an ad blocker on, sometimes that prevents it from being seen. And thank you about the dogs! 🙂

  3. Hello Krista, i am presently crocheting your free crochet doily pattern and am stuck on row 4. Is there a video that could help me with this project?

  4. I want to use this for a wheel chair wheel cover 24”. What is the finished size? So I can gauge how much more I have to add! Love the pattern!

  5. Hi sorry but i’m lost on round 4 to…. sk one st you mean the first one after the chain? I’ve to start from the second one. ….the count doesn’t work… Do you have any for video tutorial for? Sorry I’m Italian and for me is very difficult to understand The sequence:( Thank you very much for your help

    1. Hi Francesca,

You skip the first stitch of the round. (The chains at the beginning of the rounds do not count as stitches)
Please let me know if you have any more questions or concerns.

      Krista

  6. With round 4, are we picking up a loop from the next stitch for the whole round? I am really lost with this round insructions

Round 4: ch 4, sk the first st, { * yo, pickup a loop in next st, repeat from * for a total of 3 times,} yo, pull through the 7 loops (not including the yo) on the hook (triangle formed) ,

    * ch 2, yo, pick up a loop in same st you just finished working in, yo, pick up a loop, yo, pick up a loop, yo, pull through the 7 loops on the hook (not including the yo), ####is this part of the instructions similar to the one above, where you pick up a loop from the next stitch each time?

  7. At the very beginning do you sl st in the 4th chain then do the 15 dc? That’s what I’m used to doing so if you mean do 15 dc in the ch 4 it’s something way different than I’m used to. Thanks and thanks for sharing this! I’ve been looking for a great idea to use my Lily brand yarn with.

  8. I’m a little confused. You talk about doc in chains. Are you referring to dc into the next dc or what. I love the pattern but I am confused about your chains. Help please

    1. Hi Carolyn,

For some reason I was calling st’s (ch’s) throughout part of the pattern. I fixed it. 🙂 Thanks for finding this for me!

      Krista

  9. Can you tell me please if the starting chains at the beginning of each round are included in the number of stitches?

  10. This pattern is great for a quick easy doily and I use A LOT of this cotton yarn!
Unlike my Grandmother, I just can’t seem to work using the thread and miniscule hooks.
She made some things that I can’t imagine even being able to see the stitches to work into.
,I cant wait to try this out. I’m not sure where I’m going to use it but I will definitely find a spot.
    Thanks for the pattern.

  11. Hello Krista
How would I add additional rows? I love the design but would like it at least two rows wider.
    Your help is appreciated..
    Thanks!
