SUPPLIES YOU WILL NEED TO SINGLE CROCHET
To start learning how to crochet the single crochet stitch you will need just a few items to begin. Make sure you have some yarn (any weight will work) and a corresponding crochet hook size to the yarn you are using. I like to use worsted weight yarn for my tutorials. If you’d like to use the same I would suggest Vanna’s Choice by Lion Brand Yarn. You can find this yarn found online on Amazon or in your local craft stores. You will also need a 6.00 mm size J crochet hook.

Single Crochet Tutorial
Make a slip knot to attach yarn to hook
Yarn over and pull yarn back through the loop, repeating until you have a chained 9 (that is the number I did for this tutorial) then turn your work.
Insert hook into second chain from hook
Pull yarn back through the loop, now you will have 2 loops on the hook
Pull yarn back through both loops on hook and a single crochet stitch is completed!
FINISHING THE FIRST ROW:
Insert hook into next chain and repeat steps 3-7 until you reach the end of the row (always inserting hook into next chain after a single crochet is completed)
To do a second row chain 1 and insert hook into second chain from hook through both loops
FINISHING THE SECOND ROW:
Repeat steps 3-7 across row until you reach the end of the row.
Remember, if you would like to make more rows you need to always chain 1 at the end of each row and turn your work before starting a new row of single crochets.
That’s it! You made a single crochet stitch!
